Homes for Sale

254 South Queen Street, York, PA

Goal:

Build a high quality home that provides a family with the opportunity to settle in and build equity for the future.

254 S Queen Street is a two-story, single family home with a detached, oversized garage located  at the corner of South Queen Street and East Collage Avenue in York City.  As the diverse York City population continues to grow and inflation continues to rise, the supply of high quality and affordable housing becomes more scarce.  While this home does not solve the housing crisis, it was designed to meet the needs for a working class family.  The first floor includes a living room, kitchen, laundry room, one 3/4 bathroom, and a coat closet.  The second floor features 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom.  The free standing two-car garage sits at the corner of the alley and East Collage Avenue, creating a generous amount of green space to foster outdoor activities.

Development & Funding:

254 South Queen Street was most recently a vacant lot owned by the Redevelopment Authority of York (RDA).  A blighted home stood in place for many years before it was demolished due to health and safety concerns.  Through a partnership with the RDA, we purchased the vacant lot, recognizing the importance of filling this gap.  After several meetings and many small group conversations, a design concept was created.  This home came together through a mix of funding: federal HUD HOME funds, Pennsylvania’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), and donations from our community fundraisers.
